Unique Historical Database, The Archives of Black Men, Chronicles of Black Men’s Success

Reminisce Preservation is proud to invite everyone to delve into the world of exceptional black men with its Black Male Archives.

The archive was launched on October 1, 2021 and houses a repository of photos, collections, dissertations, statistical data and full citations of news articles from 2000 to the present.

The Black Men’s Archive is a compilation of all the ongoing successes and efforts of Black men across all industries and houses them in one place. At a time when the black male is frequently vilified, marginalized and experiences a lack of support, the clue is a welcome breath of fresh air.

The database is fully virtual and is enhanced by a dynamic website complemented by an easy to navigate user interface. The online catalog includes historical exhibits, local history index and videos.

This crucial curation was conceptualized by the passionate and multifaceted Rodney Freeman, a proud father, brother, son, librarian, author, self-proclaimed nerd and hip-hop extraordinaire. Recognizing the overwhelmingly negative portrayal of black men in recent years, he began to question whether he was seen in the same light as portrayed by the media. Fearing that the misrepresentation would also affect other black men in his life, such as his father and brother, he decided to rewrite the script. Therefore, the Black Men’s Archive was created.

At its core, the Reminisce Preservation platform embodies the importance of representation. It shines a light on black men around the world in a positive and progressive light, ultimately affirming that thriving young men are not limited or by the status quo.

But don’t be fooled into thinking that the Black Male Archives is just a knowledge bank on the excellence of black men. It is much more than that. Aiming to be a practical tool, the site also hosts a resource center in the form of a directory of black businesses. The directory consists of a solid compilation of hair salons, locating the hottest and most up-to-date fashion, mentorship programs and conference locators. If you’re not looking to date a black business yet, the directory also lets you immerse yourself in the Black Male Archives podcast.

Black men will no longer be tarnished by a biased view. Instead, their individual experiences and journeys have been kept in one place so they can be the guiding light for every little black boy.
