GREENFIELD — Greenspace CoWork and the Greenfield Business Association (GBA) are launching a six-month series of conversations with local innovative companies. These events, which are part of the Business Breakdown series, will begin on September 7.
The Business Breakdown is a monthly discussion and networking event that celebrates innovative entrepreneurship in Greenfield by featuring a different local business each month. According to a GBA newsletter, attendees hear from star entrepreneurs telling their startup stories, followed by informal networking and socializing.
The events, which are free and open to the public, take place the first Wednesday of each month from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Greenspace CoWork inside the Hawks & Reed Performing Arts Center (289 Main St., third floor). A variety of refreshments are offered, including food and drink from local vendors.
The composition of the series is as follows:

SPRINGFIELD — The law firm Bacon Wilson, which represents clients in western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut from five locations, announced that eight of its attorneys have been named among America’s Top Lawyers for 2023 .
They are: Kenneth J. Albano, specializing in business organizations (including LLCs and partnerships); Gary G. Breton, banking and financial law; Gina M. Barry, Elder Law; Hyman G. Darling, Elder Law; Mark A. Tanner, real estate litigation; Michael B. Katz, Bankruptcy, Creditor/Debtor Rights, and Insolvency and Reorganization Law; Peter W. MacConnell, Real Estate Law; and Stephen N. Krevalin, family law. Daniel M. McKellick was also recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America for his work in real estate law.
Additionally, Bacon Wilson was recognized in US News’ “Best Law Firms” Best Lawyers. According to a press release from Bacon Wilson, the firm is regionally ranked at Level 1 in Banking and Finance Law, Level 2 in Commercial Organizations including Limited Liability Companies and Partnerships, Level 2 in seniors and level 2 in family law.
The primary sources of nominations for Best Lawyers in America are clients, fellow attorneys, and marketing teams. Ballots – which are designed based on the voter’s area or areas of practice, as well as their geographic region – are generated and distributed to registered attorneys. Selected attorneys are then checked against their respective state bar association’s sanction lists to ensure they are in good standing with ethics committees.
SPRINGFIELD — Shatz, Schwartz and Fentin, PC, a Springfield-based law firm, announced that founder and shareholder Gary S. Fentin, a Conway resident, has again been named one of the Best Lawyers in America for 2023. Fentin’s appointment was based on his contributions in the areas of banking and finance law and commercial transaction law/Uniform Commercial Code (UCC).
Best Lawyers, a peer-reviewed publication, includes more than 67,000 attorneys in 148 practice areas, covering all 50 states and the District of Columbia, in its 2023 edition. According to a press release from Shatz, Schwartz and Fentin, the he inclusion in this year’s publication is based on more than 9.4 million lawyer ratings by other lawyers.
Fentin has focused his practice in the areas of commercial and real estate financing and development, industrial revenue bonds, affordable housing, business law and business foreclosures. Within these practice areas, he also oversees the firm’s tax-exempt bond practice and has acted as a surety and/or buyer advisor for over 35 years.
Fentin is a graduate of Boston College Law School, where he was inducted into the Order of the Coif honor society. He earned a master’s degree in tax law from Boston University Law School and completed an intensive workshop on mediation at Harvard Law School. He has previously been named to both the Best Lawyers in America and Massachusetts Super Lawyers lists, and received the highest possible rating by his peers in the Martindale-Hubbell Directory.
