Ashley Knott, Family Engagement and Communications Coordinator at Westfield Washington Schools (WWS), hopes Westfield families will attend the first ever Rock the Block Community Party, sponsored by Summers Plumbing Heating & Cooling.

The event will take place from 5-7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 5 at Westfield High School’s practice soccer field.

We’re doing this for all of our wonderful families, to celebrate the new school year coming up,” Knott says. Kids and parents will really enjoy all the fun. We are also delighted that Summers Plumbing Heating & Cooling has agreed to be our Official Host Sponsor. ThisIt’s also a way to start the school year with everyone feeling positive about everything. So many of our families have gone through a lot over the past two years, soIt’s nice to be able to plan something fun to celebrate our wonderful schools and great community. We hope it will be a great event for many people. We really encourage our school families, staff and community to support the event.

Knott notes that Rock the Block is expected to feature carnival-style games with prizes including candy, as well as activities for all ages, musical performances, a live DJ and food.

Some community organizations will also participate.

The Red Cross will be holding a blood drive from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.,” Knott says. We hope 100 people will donate. ThisIt’s a great cause.

There will also be kiosks with district resources to help families start their school year on a positive note. Teachers and students from all WWS sites will be present at the event, which is open to the public.

We know Westfield Washington Schools, WWS Athletics, WWS Clubs, local businesses, grassroots organizations and community partners will be involved,” Knott says. We are looking for more. This is a district event, so we are looking for more clubs to shine. ThisIt’s a great way to get more people to know more about your school, organization, business or club. We ask that you provide a game or activity if you are hosting a tent. Low prices are welcome.

For Westfield schools, athletics and clubs, the cost is free to participate. For local organizations and community partners, the cost is $25. Participants must provide a tent,” Knott explains. We will provide a 6′ table and two chairs. At the reception of a participants form, we will send them an invoice for payment.

More details will be provided closer to the event. Knott says the rain date is Saturday, August 6.
