The Indian women scored under a run-a-ball before Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur reunited and helped the Indian women add 83 in ten overs after the power play.
Jemimah Rodrigues smashed a 50-38 ball in her comeback match which also helped the Indian women set a target of 151 Sri Lankan women in the campaign opener on Saturday. After Shafali Verma (10) and Smriti Mandhana (6) left early, Jemimah Rodrigues joined Harmanpreet Kaur to assemble a 92-point support for the 3rd wicket. After Jemimah Rodrigues’ magnificent 76-point effort, it was Dayalan Hemalatha who made a late entry and stunned the Lankans. The latter was the bowlers’ choice, returning numbers of 3 for 15 in 2.2 overs. On the other hand, Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar picked up 2 wickets each.

In the ongoing game between Sri Lankan Women and UAE, the Sri Lankan Women opted to strike first but got disappointed. The UAE got a few early wickets, and none of the set hitters could convert their starts into big scores. Harshitha Madavi scored in the lead with 37 for Sri Lanka in the first leg, but the rest of their scoreboard reads like a phone book except for Nilakshi de Silva’s 19 and Anushka Sanjeewani’s 17.
Credit goes to the bowlers from the United Arab Emirates, who troubled the Sri Lankan women with the seam in the first half of the innings and then Vaishnave Mahesh’s rotation knocked out the middle order. In the death matches, Dharnidharka Samaira and Mahika Gaur picked up four wickets among them to limit the Sri Lankan women to just 109. Play was stopped due to rain and thunderstorm after the UAE women United have been 20/1 in 4 games.
