East Renfrewshire man hopes directory will boost businesses
An East Renfrewshire property professional is setting up a business directory and networking group to help local businesses support each other.
Fraser Kelly calls on those who run their own business to let him know if this is something they would like to be involved in.
The 31-year-old estate agent hopes the initiative can help businesses thrive at a time when the Covid pandemic has made things difficult.
Fraser told the Barrhead News: “I couldn’t find any networking groups or business directories for anyone at Barrhead or Newton Mearns to support each other.
“There are so many different companies operating here, so there seems to be a bit of a gap.
“It’s just about highlighting great local businesses and hopefully helping them meet and relate to locals.”
Although the project is only in its infancy, a dozen companies have already expressed their interest in taking part.
Fraser is initially focusing on Barrhead and Newton Mearns, but would also be happy to hear from companies such as Neilston, Uplawmoor, Giffnock and Clarkston.
The father-of-one set up as a freelance estate agent covering Barrhead and Newton Mearns, in partnership with national estate agency Keller Williams, last year.
With his wife Jen, he also runs Kelly Property Scotland, which renovates properties in Barrhead.
Fraser wants the new business directory to be free and inclusive.
“I thought a directory might also be a good idea for local people,” he said. “If you’re trying to find a local plumber, you can use Google, but it can be quite a laborious process.
“If there’s a local directory with a list of different professions and services, you can find people who actually work and live on your doorstep.
“I would ask any company that wants to get involved to contact me. It doesn’t matter if you are a solo band or a large company.”
