American Airlines returns flights to D-FW for vacation

American Airlines is bringing back nonstop flights between Daytona Beach International Airport and Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) for the holiday season.

Daily flights run from December 16 to January 3, departing DFW at 12:20 p.m. and arriving at DAB at 4:00 p.m. Flights will depart DAB at 4.25pm ​​and arrive at DFW at 5.55pm.

The airline also recently announced the return of non-stop flights to and from Philadelphia for the same length of vacation.

Halifax Health is hiring more emergency physicians

Drs. Morgan DuFresne, Michael Gleimer, Dallas Joiner, Brenton Kinker, Mikhail Marchenko and Malav Patel have joined the Halifax Emergency Medicine team.

Dr. DuFresne, a board-certified physician, attended Ross University School of Medicine before completing his emergency medicine residency at the University of South Florida.

Dr Gleimer is a board certified physician with a specialization in emergency medicine. After completing his medical studies at the University of Michigan, Dr. Gleimer completed his residency in emergency medicine at the University of Cincinnati.

Dr. Joiner, an emergency medicine specialist, is a board certified physician with critical care expertise. She earned a doctorate from the University of Florida, completed her residency in emergency medicine at Orlando Health, and then completed a scholarship in intensive care anesthesia at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Dr Kinker is a certified emergency physician. After attending Wayne State University for medical school, he completed an emergency medicine residency at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine.

Dr. Marchenko, a board-certified physician, attended medical school at the University of Central Florida before pursuing a residency in emergency medicine at the University of South Florida.

Dr. Patel is a certified physician specializing in emergency medicine. He received his doctorate from Florida State University College of Medicine before attending the University of Virginia for his residency in emergency medicine.

Doctors will be based in emergency departments in Daytona Beach and Port Orange.

HEALTHCAREfirst selected Halifax Health-Hospice as one of the top patient care and caregiver experience providers in the Hospice Honors 2021 list.

The honor recognizes Halifax Health-Hospice as the only one in Central Florida offering the highest level of quality as measured from a caregiver’s perspective.

From October 2019 to September 2020, HEALTHCARE first collected Patient Experience Surveys from people receiving care at the Halifax Health-Hospice. The surveys were assessed using Hospice CAHPS quality measures and determined the level of patient care provided by Halifax Health-Hospice.

Halifax has hospices in Edgewater, Orange City, Ormond Beach and Port Orange.

New complex hires general manager

Crescent Hotels & Resorts has selected Elizabeth Gallant as General Manager of the Max Beach Resort in Daytona Beach Shores.

The resort, owned by Bayshore Capital, is expected to celebrate its official opening early next year.

Ms. Gallant has over 25 years of hospitality, sales and operations experience, including in the Daytona Beach area. She will lead a team of over 30 employees.

The resort has 71 condo-style residential suites with options of one, two, and three bedrooms.

Restaurant chain offers tuition reimbursement

Texas Roadhouse is rolling out a new tuition reimbursement program for team members interested in pursuing a college education.

Young chamber launched

The Regional Chamber of Volusia West will launch the Junior Chamber of Volusia West.

The program will be comprised of 16 to 20 junior and senior high school students from DeLand, Deltona, Pine Ridge, University and Taylor. An advisory committee will select the members.

The five-month program will conclude with a graduation ceremony with the presentation of certificates and scholarships.
